Opening Day at Coors Field in early April is an annual rite of spring in Denver, as throngs of baseball fans flock downtown to celebrate the start of baseball season. The Colorado Rockies play their home games from spring to fall at the beloved ballpark in the city’s oldest neighborhood, Lower Downtown (LoDo) — where you'll also find tons of restaurants, nightlife and Denver Union Station. Come cheer on the Rockies or your favorite visiting team for a classic day under a big, blue Colorado sky with mountains on the horizon. Or plan a trip around an upcoming major concert at this iconic, centrally located venue.

The Coors Field Experience

Opened in 1995, the park is a throwback that looks like an old-school baseball palace, but with modern perks, expansive views of the city and the peaks, and the capacity for more than 50,000 fans. Colorado's Major League Baseball team, the Rockies, are always one of the top draws in terms of attendance, in no small part due to Coors Field. The family-friendly stadium hosts not only Rockies games, but also blockbuster concerts, fireworks shows and special events like the Savannah Bananas.

Inside the Ballpark

The Rooftop: Featuring a few restaurants, bars and standing room above right field, this is the ultimate spot for panoramic views and socializing, open to anyone with a ticket.

SandLot Brewery: The first brewery inside a major league ballpark, SandLot is famously known as the birthplace of crisp, citrusy Blue Moon.

Food and Drink: Coors Field offers a variety of concessions, from classic stadium hot dogs and nachos to local craft beer, Rocky Mountain Oysters and the famous Helton Burger.

Tips for the Best Experience

Where to Sit: There’s really not a bad seat in the house, but for the best views of the Rocky Mountains as the sun sets, look for seats on the upper deck along the first-base line. If you prefer to stay cool in the shade, opt for seats at the third-base line side or the club level. Be sure to look for the single row of purple seats in the upper deck — that marks exactly 1 mile above sea level!

When to Arrive: Gates A and E open two hours before first pitch. Gates B, C and D open 90 minutes before first pitch. Arrive early to grab a spot at The Rooftop or watch batting practice.

Walking the Stadium: Coors Field has a 360-degree concourse. Take a lap around the entire stadium before finding your seat to soak in the views from every angle.
