The Mile High City is filled with thrills — from gravity-defying roller coasters to challenging climbing walls to wet ‘n’ wild water slides, you’re guaranteed to get your adrenaline fix in Denver. Check out these cool rides.
Die-hard roller coaster fans will find plenty to love at Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park.
Located in the heart of Denver, Elitch Gardens is Colorado's only world-class combination of theme and water park. There's something for everyone, with 54 rides and attractions, including 14 pint-sized adventures, thrilling roller coasters, an entire water park and special events. Plus, don't miss Fright Fest in October when the entire park turns haunted!
Kaleidoscape: In collaboration with Meow Wolf Denver, it's a "thrill ride for the mind" where you go on an artist-driven voyage.
Mind Eraser: A monstrously fun suspension coaster that climbs 10 stories and plummets downward at speeds of over 60 mph.
Sling Shot: Spin head over heels as you're catapulted 216 feet into the air.
XLR8R: Colorado's tallest free-fall swing. You'll be strapped in securely and sent flying across the park, coming ever-so-close to the ground before being shot back up into the air. Try not to scream, we dare you.
The family-owned Lakeside Amusement Park is a long-standing Denver institution that's great for all ages. It's both an amusement park and a museum, inspired by 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. It's the only one of its kind still standing today.
Wild Chipmunk: A topsy-turvy two-person ride that speeds you up, down and all around at breathtaking speeds. Watch out for that hair-raising double dip!
There's also a scenic train ride around the lake with views of the Front Range, a merry-go-round, spinning rides, bumper boats and a 140-foot drop tower.

Water World
Every summer, thousands of Colorado residents flock to Water World, looking to beat the heat, relax in the park's beautifully landscaped 64 acres — and ride some serious water slides. It's considered one of the top water parks in the country. In 2026, the park will open a new attraction called Summit Canyon, which captures the beauty and excitement of Colorado's great outdoors.
The Zoomerang: A gargantuan half-pipe water slide, almost four stories high. You'll climb into a single-, double- or triple-person inner tube, take a deep breath and plunge over the edge for a free-falling sensation.
Mile High Flyer: It's the first hydromagnetic watercoaster in the Rockies, meaning it glides uphill before making a thunderous descent.
Alpine Springs Express Gondola: While this ride is much lower key, it does give you a gorgeous birds-eye view of the park.
This pirate-themed, family-friendly park in Englewood has more of a neighborhood feel. It's perfect for a day of relaxation for the parental units while the children are out on the high seas.
Dump Bucket: Only the bravest pirates can handle 750 gallons of water dumping in the leisure pool.
Lazy River: Enjoy a tubing adventure on this meandering waterway, only to be disrupted by a swirling vortex.
Located 30 minutes from Denver, this one-sixth-scale village was originally built in 1915 and rebuilt in 1988 after fire and flood damage. Now you can see more than 100 colorful buildings with amazing details.
Tiny Town Railway: A mile-long track with open-air cars pulled by an authentic steam locomotive similar to the narrow-gauge locomotives that once worked the mountain lines of Colorado. The train crosses a trestle over a small stream and curls through tall pine trees in its lovely mountain location, affording excellent views of the village.
