Whether you're honoring Dry January (sober curious) or simply sticking to a healthier lifestyle at any time of year, below you'll find a few locals' favorite Denver spots to imbibe sans alcohol. But these aren’t the syrupy-sweet “mocktails” or lackluster lime-and-sodas you may be used to — they’re craft concoctions that spotlight subtle flavors, make use of unique ingredients, and go way beyond the standard Shirley Temple.
Downtown
Poka Lola Social Club
Located in Lower Downtown's LoDo's Dairy Block, Poka Lola Social Club takes you back in time to turn-of-the-century American soda fountain culture. You’ll find a handful of seasonally changing mocktail options, all made with just as much thought and care as the rest of the drink menu.
The Kitchen
If you’re strolling the 16th Street Mall, cruise over to The Kitchen and ask for a non-alcoholic and not-so-spooky Banshee's Treehouse made with strawberry fresno demerara, lemon and ginger beer, or order up a classic Lyre's Amalfi Spritz or Gin & Tonic. You'll also find NA wine and beer like Lyre's Classico Prosecco and Athletic Brewing Company Lagers and IPAs.
Chez Maggy
Michelin-starred chef Ludo Lefebvre brings upscale but unconventional French elegance to the Mile High City at Chez Maggy, where he serves up classic French cuisine using elements and ingredients native to Colorado. While you'll find plenty of French vino on the menu, there's also a delectable selection of zero-proof cocktails like the Earl Grey Bliss (tea-infused Ritual zero-proof gin, lemon and honey) and St. Agrestis Phony Mezcal Negroni.
Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant
Can’t imagine Mexican food without a margarita? You’re in luck! Visitors to Denver’s Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant in LoDo can order one of the restaurant's legendary Strawberry Margaritas without the tequila. Or opt for the Hibiscus Spritz with hibiscus agua fresca, soda and lemon.
River North Art District (RiNo)
Death & Co
New York’s Death & Co is lauded as one of the best cocktail bars in the world and chose Denver for their first foray outside of Manhattan. Located inside The Ramble Hotel, Denver’s Death & Co is one of the best spots in the River North Art District (RiNo) to grab a cocktail, but the non-alcoholic sippers are every bit as fanciful as you’d expect here. Their menu changes often, but drinks like the Return of Saturn (Lyre’s pink gin, Ritual rum, passion fruit, orgeat and lemon) and roster of N/A wines and beers will satisfy everyone.
Honey Elixir Bar
Honey Elixir Bar is a standout with its bold and exciting menu. While they offer traditional drinks with alcohol, their “potions” like the Love Spell (a blend of blueberry, raspberry, hawthorn berry, shatavari, hibiscus flower and orange blossom honey) are alcohol-free and pack tons of flavor. They also have some energy-boosting cacao drinks.
Yacht Club
Consistently ranked among the best bars in the country, Yacht Club brings an eccentric high-low vibe that feels very of the moment, because who couldn’t use a hot dog with a side of a well-made (and very possibly obscure) cocktail or mocktail right about now? That same geeky cocktail charm bleeds into the mocktails, where you’ll be just as happy sipping the Paradise Waits with green pineapple, Lyre’s white cane, celery, lime and curry leaf as you would a cup of the Kool-Aid du jour.
Highland
El Five
Perched high above LoHi, El Five boasts spectacular views of the downtown Denver skyline, a delicious Mediterranean menu featuring bold flavors from Spain, North Africa, the Middle East and beyond...and a selection of spirit free cocktails that won't leave you wanting. Try the Faux Fashioned made with Three Spirit Nightcap, cherry, vanilla, Turkish tobacco bitters and spices, the tropical Forbidden Fruit with coconut and pineapple or the seasonal Faux Sangria.
Lady Jane
Lady Jane is known for its gorgeous, bright vintage design and roster of simple but solid cocktails, but it’s also become a favorite for non-alcoholic sips. There are always at least four tasty options, like the Blood Orange Colada, Bay Leaf Cream Soda and Pomegranate Sour.
Cherry Creek
Forget Me Not
Forget Me Not — located in the heart of Cherry Creek — is a bright and cheery spot to snack on small plates (think: salmon crudo, street corn dip and wagyu steak tartare) while sipping a zero-proof cocktail. Try the refreshing Green Machine made with Seedlip Grove, cucumber, salted lemon and ginger, or the earthy Deep Roots concocted with Seedlip Garden, tarragon, beet, ginger, citrus and Stappi red bitter.
Local Jones
At Local Jones inside Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek, the zero-proof Snowcap—a mix of vanilla mint chai tea, lemon, honey, pomegranate and egg white—and spicy Prickle My Fancy are the perfect people-watching sippers.
South Broadway
Punch Bowl Social
For games galore, head to Punch Bowl Social on South Broadway. And while you’re there, keep your karaoke or bowling game strong by choosing a beverage off their non-alcoholic drinks menu. In addition to fresh juices, shakes, malts, sodas, fizzes and house-made lemonades, Punch Bowl serves up a slew of alcohol-free cocktails like the Coconut Cooler, Honey Berry Fizz and Kiwi Ginger Lemonade.
Adrift Tiki Bar
It’s possible that the best non-alcoholic drinks in all of Denver are at Adrift Tiki Bar. Sure, they have that whole tropical vibe advantage—we can’t think of any other spot in town with pufferfish lights—but the spirit-free program is strong here, where the non-alcoholic painkillers and mai tais are every bit as complex and carefully crafted as their boozy counterparts. Step into the totem pole-flanked bar, order your vacation in a glass and pretend you’re relaxing on a beach somewhere warm.
