Where to Stay

Your grown-up slumber party requires the best accommodations in the heart of it all — downtown Denver.

For vintage styles, try the Oxford Hotel or the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa, Autograph Collection, both historic hotels built in the late 19th century. Don't miss the Oxford's retro-cool Cruise Room cocktail lounge and the traditional afternoon tea at the Brown.

The Four Seasons Hotel Denver offers all the world-class luxury that the Four Seasons brand is known for — plus a lushly landscaped third-floor rooftop terrace with a heated swimming pool and whirlpool.

The elegant Hotel Teatro boasts exquisite suites and is located just down the street from the Denver Performing Arts Complex

The Magnolia Hotel Denver, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel combines old-world style with modern glamour. Plus, many suites feature cozy wood-burning fireplaces.

For offbeat, quirky fun, try the The Curtis - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. Each floor is themed around a different pop culture phenomenon, from horror movies to rock ‘n' roll.

The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Denver was awarded the AAA Four-Diamond rating, so you know you'll be treated like royalty. Book a room at the Limelight Denver and dine at the mountain-chic Ajax Downtown, a sister restaurant to the famous Ajax Tavern in Aspen.

The Ramble Hotel in the always-happening River North Art District (RiNo) is home to Death & Co, an outpost of the acclaimed New York City cocktail institution. Or Catbird Hotel has apartment-style rooms and tons of fun amenities such as free Vespa scooter rentals and a rooftop bar equipped with pool tables and hot tubs.

Where to Shop

Save room in your luggage.

In the heart of downtown, Larimer Square blends historic charm with trendy, indie boutiques. You’ll find cowboy boots at Ariat, luxury swimwear at Beach Hause, and sustainable outdoor gear at Cotopaxi. Looking for a hidden gem? Garage Sale Vintage doubles as a bar and a treasure trove of retro finds.

Denver is the spot to channel your inner Rhinestone Cowboy. Rockmount Ranch Wear has been outfitting locals and celebs alike in Western shirts since before the city’s streets were paved (just ask famous fans like Ralph Lauren and John Travolta). A new kid on the block, Gem Hats in Highland is a locally-based brand crafting handcrafted, custom hats using upcycled materials.

The Cherry Creek Shopping District isn’t just a shopping district—it's a full-on experience. Cherry Creek North's 16 walkable blocks boast the region's largest collection of independently owned shops, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and spas. Across the street, experience retail bliss at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, home to upscale names like brings all the big-name brands: Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Burberry and more.

Vintage lovers should take a side trip to Antique Row on South Broadway, where you can peruse dozens of shops, art galleries and indie boutiques.

Denver is a city of neighborhoods, each one with its own distinctive flavor. For even more shopping options, head to the Highland and LoHiSouth Pearl Street and Berkeley.

Where to Relax

What's a girls' getaway weekend without a trip to the spa? Here are some of our favorite options.

The Spa at the Brown Palace welcomes visitors with a soothing waterfall that sets the stage for the spa's signature soaks. These treatments make use of the hotel's exclusive artesian well located 750 feet below the lobby. Standard spa favorites, from massages to body wraps, are all available in these exquisite surroundings.

The Oxford Club at the Oxford Hotel's unique "Herbal Steam" includes a lymphatic dry brushing of the body followed by time spent in the spa's detoxifying steam tent.

At the Four Seasons Denver's spa, distinctive skin care, body wraps and massage treatments take a soothing, nature-inspired approach to rejuvenation. Each treatment room is named after a gemstone, and several treatments on the menu incorporate gemstones, long known for their healing powers.

At Oakwell Beer Spa, book a group treatment room to relax in beer baths infused with hops, barley and seasonal herbs (yes, really) while enjoying locally sourced craft beverages.

Spend a few hours at RÖK Spas, a design-forward, Nordic-style wellness retreat with Colorado’s largest communal sauna, cold plunges and thermal soaks.

Where to Explore

Denver's arts and cultural world has exploded in the past decade, with three major art museums, a sprawling performing arts complex and a vibrant gallery scene.

Spend some time marveling at the masterpieces (both classic and contemporary) at Denver Art Museum. Next door, the Clyfford Still Museum displays iconoclastic abstract expressionist art that was previously locked away from view for decades.

Take in cutting-edge pieces at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver (MCA Denver) and soak in the sunshine on its fabulous rooftop patio afterward.

And for a truly unforgettable experience, check out Meow Wolf Denver's  Convergence Station, the Santa Fe, New Mexico-based arts and entertainment company’s permanent installation. Discover immersive, mind-bending art across four alien worlds.

And don't miss the city's thriving art districts, where Denver's creative community lives and works. On the first Friday of each month, look for special events and gallery showings.

Take a day trip to the spectacular Rocky Mountain Front Range. Go elk and moose watching in Rocky Mountain National Park, admire the geological wonders (or catch a concert under the stars) at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre — or cruise the Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway, the highest paved road in North America. You can also plan a hike in one of the many state parks and natural areas surrounding the city; beginner and advanced trail options are available.

Where to Eat

There are seemingly endless culinary adventures available in the Mile High City — this list barely scratches the surface.

Denver may be landlocked, but fresh, perfectly prepared seafood is plentiful, thanks to local chefs’ connections to the coast. Share a dozen of fresh-caught oysters at Water Grill Denver or Jax Fish House. Or snag a reservation at one of the city's many omakase seafood counters such as Michelin-starred Kizaki or Sushi by Scratch.

For wine and tapas, grab a table at Corsica Wine Bar, open until midnight on Friday and Saturday evenings, or El Five, known for its spectacular views of the skyline and Spanish and Mediterranean plates. Sunday Vinyl, a bar with a deep wine list that spins an all-vinyl soundtrack, is also a fun spot to click glasses on the Denver Union Station platform.

For bites and a show, pop into Champagne Tiger, a French American diner located on historic East Colfax that hosts events such as “Pasta & Piano” night every Wednesday and a energetic Drag Brunch every Sunday.

Looking for a modern steakhouse with a playful vibe? Neon-furnished A5 delivers with a menu of affordable cuts, decadent shareable sides and well-shaken cocktails.

If you’re traveling with a crew with varied tastes, opt for one of the city's many food halls. Avanti has seven culinary options in one space with vendors slinging everything from modern Vietnamese to arepas.

Where to Party

Denver's nightlife won't disappoint.

Looking for some laughs? Look no further than Comedy Works, Denver's long-running comedy club in LoDo, where big names try out new material and rising stars hold court.

For a naughty-but-still-nice night out, try the Clocktower Cabaret located below downtown's iconic Daniels & Fisher Tower. On any given night, enjoy live jazz, lighthearted burlesque and other immersive shows.

If you and your girlfriends feel like dancing, head to the Grizzly Rose, a long-running country bar, nightclub and dance hall.

Denver has some of the best concert venues year-round. Check out a concert schedule here.
